Intermediate Electrical Engineer

Requirements

Coordinate activities assigned to members of the electrical design team, to meet expectations of the Lead Electrical Engineer and client representatives, including the preparation of design drawings and studies

-Initiate and execute electrical power systems studies and calculations

-Prepare technical reports, and client correspondences/presentations

-Prepare detailed specifications and contract documents for:

-Procurement of major electrical equipment

-Construction document engineering instruction packages

-Review selections of appropriate materials and equipment

-Prepare drawing/document lists with associated engineering/planning budgets

-Coordinate project design work duties and prepare schedules of engineering work

-Providing electrical discipline leadership for medium sized projects, reporting to the Project Manager

-Performing engineering design as required including power system infrastructure

-Mentoring junior personnel, including engineers and designers

-Providing technical knowledge and team support with regards to power system modeling and analysis. This will include load flow and short circuit analysis / device protection and coordination / arc flash hazard analysis and protection methods

-Providing technical knowledge and team support with regards to substation and electrical equipment layout, grounding and bus and feeder arrangements

-Reviewing project documents prior to issue for scope and presentation, including checking for technical accuracy

-Providing estimates for engineering work and manpower plans

-Performing engineering and capital cost estimates of various accuracies

-Providing field support to construction management team

-Demonstrate capability to thrive in a team orientated environment

Our Ideal Candidate will have: The candidate will possess a B. Eng. /B.Sc. or greater in Electrical Engineering, and be registered, or actively pursuing registration as a Professional Engineer in the province of Saskatchewan.

-Minimum 3-10 years of electrical experience in the heavy industries (preferably mining) with medium and high voltage power systems, substation, protection & control and general electrical equipment

-Experience with power system modeling and analysis specifically in ESA, SKM, or ETAP software and familiarity with microprocessor-based relays

-Ability to work in both design office and providing commissioning assistance in the field

-Familiar with Inventor or other 3D modeling applications

-Fluent in reading and interpreting electrical schematics

-Familiar with North American design and construction standards

-Experience in release of engineering designs and documentation within a formal release procedure
